Montreal-based Valsoft Corporation has acquired a majority stake in publishing software company Klopotek. Valsoft is known for its role in acquiring and developing vertical market software businesses.
This deal has led Klopotek to become the first company in the publishing vertical to join Aspire Software. The latter is the operating group at Valsoft.

About the companies
Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, Klopotek provides solutions to a variety of clients including large multinational publishing groups and small to mid-sized publishers. The acquisition by Valsoft Corporation is being hailed by both companies as a significant boost for Klopotek’s development.
New leadership at Klopotek
The recent leadership change in Klopotek saw Peter Karwowski take over as CEO after Ulrich Klopotek von Glowczewski stepped down from all his roles effective immediately. He cited “personal reasons” for his decision following more than three decades of leadership. Karwowski has expressed his excitement about the acquisition and sees Valsoft as a strategic partner for fostering growth.
Comments from Valsoft and Aspire Software
Rafael Mazzeo, operating partner of Aspire Software, a division of Valsoft, commented on the deal:
“The acquisition of Klopotek aligns seamlessly with their mission to remain at the forefront of the publishing technology domain, equipping publishers with advanced tools and solutions to navigate the evolving landscape successfully…”
He assured that Klopotek will continue to offer exceptional products and services, catering to evolving customer needs.
The process and perspectives
The process of finding a reliable and visionary investor was started by the company’s founder, and the actual merger was handled by Karwowski, who will now be responsible as Klopotek’s new CEO, with support from Mazzeo.
The German company sees this acquisition as creating huge perspectives for the development of both firms.
Klopotek’s transition and future growth
Nella Klopotek, the company’s executive vice-president for design and user-interface development, expressed her intention to stay with the company. She stated that the company’s focus and dedication have always been towards the publishing industry.
Joining the Aspire family gives Klopotek new possibilities to be a reliable partner for publishers, she noted.
Klopotek has been conceptualising its development on two fronts. One aspect involves a tech transition, creating the intuitive, browser-based ‘Stream’, replacing and enhancing key solutions in many areas of publishing.
The other part of Klopotek’s transition is about implementing the next generation of leadership, restructuring its management to prepare for new market opportunities.
Nella Klopotek further remarked that they are excited to strengthen the market and welcome new opportunities in opening this next chapter.
