Motorola Solutions announced a contract with the Ministry of the Interior of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. This contract is to deploy VB400 body-worn cameras and VideoManager evidence management software to the state’s police officers.

At Motorola Solutions, they are ushering in a new era in public safety and security.

Initial rollout begins in Stendal and Aschersleben

The City of Stendal Police Inspectorate and the police academy in Aschersleben mark the beginning of a larger deployment. This rollout aims to extend to nearly all operational frontline teams in Saxony-Anhalt. Importantly, the cameras will be implemented to help officers de-escalate potentially dangerous situations. Additionally, they will work to increase safety and transparency on the front line.

Integrated technology for efficient management

Motorola Solutions’ rugged VB400 body-worn cameras will be launched alongside VideoManager evidence management software. This software enables officers to easily upload and securely store and manage video footage. It organises the footage with time, date, and location as part of the force’s existing daily workflows. Additionally, these new body-worn cameras can integrate with a wide range of sensors, including Holster Aware. This feature automatically activates video recording and live-streams footage if an officer draws a weapon.

Enhanced features for frontline operations

The cameras come with a pre-recording capability, which ensures incidents are captured from the start. They are also equipped with an extended battery life that lasts beyond a shift, offering up to 12 hours of recording. “The use of body-worn cameras by Aschersleben police academy cadets highlights how video technology is now a foundational element of police training,” said Michael Kaae, corporate vice president at Motorola Solutions. He added that it is “a proven tool to improve frontline safety.”

Seamless integration with existing systems

The video management solution will integrate seamlessly with the backend systems used by the police force. This includes case management, helping to enhance collaboration between police stations and increasing efficiency.
