Based in Munich, Alaiko offers logistics solutions for direct-to-consumer online businesses. Alaiko’s proprietary technology assists businesses in managing their entire e-commerce operations. By preventing bottlenecks, it allows firms to concentrate on growth. In 2022, investors like Next47 and Tiger Global provided over $30 million in funding, enabling Alaiko to revolutionise e-commerce logistics for direct-to-consumer brands.
The company now aims to generate 120 new jobs, which will include a substantial R&D function in Birmingham, as well as an additional 80 positions at a warehouse in Milton Keynes over the next three years.

The expansion
Alaiko is presently in the process of hiring and negotiating a new office lease in Birmingham. The exact location, however, remains undisclosed. This expansion marks Alaiko’s first venture outside Germany, following its founding in 2020. Last year, the firm received approximately £25 million in funding from a combination of industry and international investors.
By branching out to the UK, Alaiko aims to aid smaller enterprises in expanding their e-commerce operations. The German firm’s software and logistics support could streamline sales experiences, contributing to overall business growth. Moreover, this move could encourage more European e-commerce firms to invest in the UK, potentially reducing transport costs and delivery times.
Alaiko’s expansion has been backed by the UK Department for Business and Trade, which has provided the firm with services such as access to research, industry reports, and networking opportunities.
