Advanced Supply Chain (ASC), the technology-led logistics company, has announced plans to invest £60m in a new European operating facility. The new hub will be located in Nettetal, Germany, as part of an expansion move which aims to generate 400 jobs over the next three years.

ASC, part of the tech-enabled solutions provider Reconomy, specialises in supply chain services for retailers and consumer brands. These services, developed with in-house specialist software, cover pre-retail, returns processing, fulfilment, wholesale distribution, and transportation.

The choice of Nettetal and ongoing expansion

Nettetal was selected for its strategic position, supporting ASC’s existing sites and fuelling ongoing expansion. Slated to open in July 2023, the 21,647 sqm European facility is part of a wider scheme. Plans to open a new logistics and fulfilment centre in Bradford, UK in September 2023, and a new site in Poland by the end of 2027, are in the pipeline.

The Nettetal site was constructed by logistics real estate specialist Verdion, supporting its European logistics fund VELF1, focusing on urban logistics in strategic locations.

Creation of jobs and commitment to low carbon technology

The new facility is projected to create 150 jobs during its first year, with numbers reaching 400 by 2026’s end. The site will utilise low carbon technology, including a photovoltaic system, while offering 12 electric vehicle charging stations.

Ben Balfour, COO at ASC, said the Nettetal opening will provide retailers and consumer brands throughout Europe with enhanced supply chain solutions. The company develops bespoke supply chain management software to improve inventory management efficiencies, allowing customers to maximise margins and sales opportunities.

Optimising supply chains and cutting carbon emissions

This expansion in Nettetal is aimed at bolstering customers’ ability to maximise the value of their supply chains. For instance, the new facility will process European customer returns much closer to the point of sale, reducing supply chain mileage, cutting carbon emissions, and generating financial savings.

The investment will not only help ASC stay ahead of the demand for technology-led supply chain solutions but also support its future expansion across Europe and internationally.

ASC’s intelligent supply chains are shaped by strategic modelling, scenario planning, forecasting, and processes that maximise stock inventory value. They eliminate errors and inefficiencies, and through ASCG’s award-winning modular WMS system ‘Vector’, provide real-time stock visibility and exception management tools. Retailers benefit from data-rich supply chains that ensure 100% visibility, from sourcing to point of sale and back again.
